I’ve spent the past few months putting together a series of silkscreen prints celebrating some of the great bars of Brooklyn (you can see them here). Next year, I’m going to do the same for Manhattan. Any suggestions?
I’m doing McSorley’s for sure. Have to. It’s the oldest bar in town. Or at least one of the oldest. There’s always arguments about that sort of thing. Like it really matters. There’s no such thing as deep truth. Only a bunch of “probablies” and “it would seem thats.”
Others being considered: Fanelli Cafe, Pete’s Tavern, Corner Bistro, Blind Tiger, The Old Town and Ear Inn (the other oldest bar in NYC). I also gotta do something to commemorate Chumley’s, that late, great place at 86 Bedford. Man, I miss it. Glad I went when it was standing.
Other suggestions for the series?
Then, later in 2014…
Great Good Places of New Orleans! No shortage of fodder there, my friends.
