Save the Date: Bars, Taverns and Dives Launch at Rizzoli bookstore May 1 6–7:30 p.m.

John Tebeau bars bookI’m pleased to announce the official launching of my book Bars, Taverns, and Dives New Yorkers Love at the Rizzoli flagship bookstore (1133 Broadway at 26th in New York City) on Tuesday May 1 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. 

Please join us for refreshing beverages served up by our friends St. John Frizell (owner of the fabulous and beloved Fort Defiance in Red Hook Brooklyn), Chris Byrne (of the Pour House of Bay Ridge), wine rep E.J. Corey of M. S. Walker wines and the good folks at our local fave Sixpoint Brewing of Brooklyn. We’ll also have a spirited discussion about the wonderfulness of New York’s great bars led by Toby Cecchini (the boss at the Long Island Bar in Brooklyn) and featuring David Wondrich (author of Imbibe), Amanda Schuster (author of New York Cocktails and Senior Editor in Chief of the online magazine Alcohol Professor), Robert Simonson (New York Times drinks writer and author of A Proper Drink), and me. We’re going to shoot the bull with Toby about which bars we love, regale the crowd with stories based on various amounts of truth, and take questions from the audience about what anything they want to know about the bars of New York City. We might — MIGHT — even have some answers, who knows? Anything could happen.
